How do I calculate the value of my gold jewellery?

Enter the weight in grams and select the karat (24K, 22K, 21K, 18K, etc.). The calculator multiplies the weight by the karat purity fraction and then by the current live XAU/USD spot price to give you the intrinsic metal value. Note that jewellery also carries a making charge on top of this.

What is the difference between 22K and 24K gold?

24K gold is pure gold (99.9% purity). 22K gold is 91.7% pure gold mixed with other metals for added durability — it is the most common standard for jewellery in GCC countries. 21K (87.5%) and 18K (75%) are also popular for jewellery that needs to be harder-wearing.

How is Zakat calculated on gold?

Zakat on gold is due when your holdings reach the nisab threshold (approximately 85 grams of 24K gold) and have been held for one lunar year. The obligation is 2.5% of the total value of your gold holdings at current market rates. Use the Zakat tab to calculate your exact obligation.

Scrap gold is valued at its metal content, not its design value. Enter the weight and karat of your scrap pieces and the calculator shows the spot-price metal value. Dealers typically pay 90–98% of the melt value depending on the karat and current market conditions.
